On the 11th day of Christmas...
...I quietly recovered from the New Year's Eve party we went to.
We had said we would leave at 1:00 am at the latest; we left at 2:30 am and got to sleep at about 3:00.
It was quite the evening but we were up to it!
In the French tradition, everything was set up very festively, and in the French tradition, we had a royal feast.
There were five couples and each one brought one course, but I still say hats off to our good friends Eric and Véro who hosted the event. They love to entertain and do it so very well.
Today has not been a day for reflection on the year to come...in fact, it hasn't been a day for reflection on much of anything! Just a very lazy day, preparing myself mentally for going back to work on Thursday.
But I do wish all of you a very happy and healthy new year -- with special thanks to those of you who have migrated back to comment a bit on this space.

Hooo, nice pix that. Did you take it? That sounds like it was a very agreeable evening and I hope you didn't wake up the next morning with 'painful hair' as the French would say...
ReplyDeleteYes, I did take it -- but I certainly didn't do the table setting!
DeleteHappy New Year Betty! We got home at about the same time you did and all I could do was vegetate yesterday. Today, back to action and full of good intentions and resolutions. May our paths cross...maybe even in Paris when tut-tut comes :)
ReplyDeleteMeredith, I was just thinking that the other day -- our paths MUST cross. Maybe Paris...I do have a place to stay there now, which is convenient. It is going to be a busy first half of 2013 for me but let's see what we can do SOMETIME in 2013! Happy New Year to you as well!
DeleteLooks and sounds like a lovely party! Happy new year, Betty! Hope it brings you only good things.
ReplyDeleteHi Betty
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you!
Sounds like you all had a marvellous time at the New Year's Eve party! I love the table decorations and settings- I think it adds an extra touch if someone really makes the effort to create a fabulous table display as is clearly demonstrated in your picture.
